IUGR

Muhammad was born at 35 weeks and low birth weight. Medical term - IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction). Simple word, baby not growing in normal rate. It was perfect pregnancy at early stage and until 28 weeks? (can't recall) IF i think and look back, still perfect pregnancy tough.. 

Routine monthly check up, pee everything normal. Until the detail scan, showed the femur length below the percentile (swear to god till now I don't have any idea how to look at that percentile) Absolutely like any normal mother to be or already a mother, straight away google it. And there it goes. Shorten in femur length is a marker for chromosome defect eg: down syndrome! My heart shattered into pieces.. I will explain bout femur lenght in another entry.

Due to this I been sent to 2nd opinion at HUKM. Prof. Norzi. She the best !! Scan, checkup and pee again, taking blood everything normal.. and scheduled after 2 weeks just to have a record at HUKM. The 2nd scan with HUKM I saw this prof Norzi been summoned to stenographer room and of course not after 5 minutes I been summoned into the room.Your baby growing not so good bla bla bla bla, then i heard IUGR, bla bla bla then the last thing I heard, we have to delivered u now. And I'm like what? Now as now? today? but he supposed to out next month. can we wait? urghh i'm not sooooo ready for this! 

Anyway, a very smooth delivery I had. He was born weighted only 1.5kg. And he has to stay in NICU for almost 3 weeks. Discharge from NICU weighted 1.8kg. He was so small and no pants needed. Hehehe

I've read, if the baby IUGR at early period, more pregnancy problem will occur. If at later stage, less serious la.. Monthly I have to monitor his weight, how much his increasing this month, when he gonna be bambam like other boys.

The more stressful moment when we have our monthly check up other mother will commented eeeeee kecilnya, how much he weighted? lahir berat berapa? anak I 3 bulan dah 5kg... so?? Typical. And of course I started to compare with other kids. and when my son will big like that boy etc. (not soo good of me)

Yes I accept the fact that my son so cute and petite. Worry me only his weight now. He is now 14 months old. And only 7kg++. Can't remember.His development so far very good. No issues on that. 

I wonder if am I not alone in this issue. I mean does other IUGR baby their weighted more or less like mine? In my mind keep say its ok as long he healthy and the development he catching up like normal kids.Currently i still breastfeed him and formula I give Pediasure. Just change from Enfalac A+ to Pediasure when he turn to 1 recently. And now am thinking and collecting data for Appeton. Should I try?
